Goldendale Creative District
The Goldendale Creative District is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support the creative economy in Goldendale. Our board members are artists, creators and pillars of the community who recognize the vital importance of artistic and creative endeavors of all kinds.

We aim to stimulate a welcoming, thriving and vibrant Goldendale, by embracing our past and welcoming the future.
A Washington Certified Creative District is a geographically defined, easily navigable area where arts, culture, and creative businesses are concentrated as part of a community’s cultural and economic life. Goldendale is in the planning stages for certification by the state. A reduction in state funding has resulted in a delay in our certification, but we have decided to follow our mission and support the creative economy regardless of official certification.
Many types of businesses are included under the creative economy umbrella, such as restaurants, maker spaces, art galleries, event spaces, theaters, web and app designers, graphic designers, crafters and makers, architects and more. If you design, create or invent things or events for a living, you are part of the creative economy!
The Creative District is not a taxing district. Our current funding consists of a mix of grants and donations from individuals, businesses and foundations. A tourism grant from the city of Goldendale is covering the costs for the free events at the Goldendale Summer Stage, and the youth musical theater is being paid for by generous donations and ticket sales.
After the Goldendale Summer Stage, we aim to continue with a series of cultural and creative showcases in Goldendale. Possible themes include culinary arts, literary arts, and visual arts. We are also looking at other ways we can support artists and creative businesses in Goldendale, by providing resources and marketing, and enhancing collaboration among the broad creative community.
